The City of New York

During Mayor Michael M. Bloomberg’s tenure, The City of New York has committed to reducing emissions 30 per cent by 2030. This commitment is a result of Mayor Bloomberg’s comprehensive 127 step initiative, PlaNYC: A Greener, Greater New York.  As one of the nation’s first comprehensive urban environmental roadmaps, PlaNYC has been the driving force behind developing new legislation to green the existing building code, planting 1 million trees, bringing together ten City Universities to join the Mayoral Challenge to aggressively reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and passing taxi regulations that require all new yellow cabs to be fuel-efficient.
