Barclays PLC is a major global financial services institute with more than 27 million customers and clients in over 50 countries.  Barclays approach to environmental management has been longstanding and the company is working through their six-point climate change which was announced at the same time they made their UK operation carbon neutral.  Other key elements of Barclays Climate Action Programme include: reducing emissions by improving energy efficiency, including a commitment to reduce energy consumption in offices and branches by 20% per full time employee; buying renewable energy, which as of this year 100% of Barclays UK electricity consumption now comes from renewable sources compared to 50% in 2007; and offering products and services that help customers to reduce their impact on climate change, such as Barclaycard Breathe.  Barclaycard Breathe is one of the key partners working with The °Climate Group’s Together campaign.
