Our Work Programmes: Carbon Markets Programme
The °Climate Group works with a broad group of partners to improve the rules of the game in carbon markets. The primary focus for the work programme is to ensure integrity and standardisation in the voluntary carbon market, thereby offering confidence to buyers, sellers, the public and other stakeholders in this growing market.
The two main work streams are:
Voluntary Carbon Standard
The °Climate Group partnered with the International Emissions Trading Association and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development to develop the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS). The VCS was launched on 19 November 2007 and provides a robust, new global standard for voluntary offset projects. The VCS is managed by an independent, non-profit VCS Association. Carbon Stewardship Council
In mid 2007 we undertook a range of international workshops to discuss establishment of a Carbon Stewardship Council. This project is currently on indefinite hold.
